I remember how I couldn’t drop the book, I took it everywhere with me, and then after that, I went on to read every other book she wrote that I could get my hands on. My induction into romance was sealed from that point, but along with it was a battle my mind didn’t envision at the time. I read all sorts of snots and nots in romance novels, the more sexually descriptive the writer was, the better.
I had a spec of what my romance novel boyfriend had to look like, I especially loved the enemies-to-lovers kind of romance fiction.
As a believer, I wanted to deepen my walk with God, but I’d find myself revisiting the very sexual scenes in the novels I had read, or even drifting off during worship, writing my intimate scenes in my head, it was a struggle.
